FS2

This 13,700 square foot renovation transformed a building formerly used for television production, located at 485 East Bay Street in Charleston, SC.  With suites ranging from 300 to 5000 square feet, FS2 serves the needs of startups and emerging firms in the technology and creative fields.  This is the follow-up project to our first incubator office facility, the Flagship.

This website for the City of Charleston connects job seekers with local businesses.  The site attracts knowledge workers to Charleston while helping local business find new talent—all in a single website.

Walker’s Bend

This unusual project rescued a troubled housing subdivision by transforming it into a mixed-use neighborhood.  At the time of planning, this project was nearly 1/4 built, with most properties vacant or in foreclosure.  Through an innovative program, the local municipality is restoring economic viability while increasing density and uses.

Irish Hill

For this competition, we proposed to grow trees which would eventually be harvested and used as building material.  We also proposed restoring an on-site stream to its earlier conditions and accommodating multiple uses in a single shed building that would span the site.

The Flagship

Repurposing a vacant retail space, this co-working environment accommodates offices, meeting and event spaces.  Our design strategy created a balance of privacy and social gathering spaces, while also delivering fast, low cost interior solutions.  Managed by the City of Charleston’s Department of Business Development, it has successfully launched many high-tech business into the larger Charleston business environment.

Athens : A Natural Future

In Fabric’s two-page contribution to the magazine Young, Foxy & Free, we envisioned a different outcome for this Southern college town.  In our imagined natural future, rooftops are repurposed, food is grown downtown and vacant parking lots are filled with new buildings.

West

This demonstration project envisioned a new in-town neighborhood center.  The site was a mix of highway ramps, parking lots and underutilized retail boxes, but we proposed something entirely different.  In our future, there’s high-density, low-rise housing, garden plots for people who want them, and a new waterfront promenade.
